Dr. Todd M. Johnson is Research Fellow in the Study of Global Christianity and Director of the Center for the Study of Global Christianity (CSGC) at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In this position he does research on the status of Christianity and world religions in every people, language, city, and country. The Center’s statistics have been widely quoted in the media (recently ABC, BBC, Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today). Johnson has a Ph.D. in International Development from William Carey International University in Pasadena, CA. His concentration was developing quantitative tools to analyze the past, present, and future of global Christianity.

Johnson is married to Tricia and has three daughters, Laura (18), Claire (15), and Valerie (8). As a family they take pleasure in bike riding, hiking, camping and international food. Todd enjoys haunting used bookstores, collecting music and film from around the world, and cross-country skiing in the winter. For the past 20 years, Todd has daily mined Christian history and global Christianity for insights into his own faith journey.

Johnson is co-author (with David Barrett and George T. Kurian) of the second edition of the World Christian Encyclopedia (Oxford University Press 2001, 1,700 pages) and World Christian Trends (William Carey Library 2001, 950 pages). He is editor of the World Christian Database located at www.worldchristiandatabase.org. He is an annual contributor of religious demographics to Encyclopaedia Britannica’s Book of the Year and International Bulletin of Missionary Research. He has also recently contributed statistical tables on religion to Religions of the World, (4 Volumes, ABC Clio), Lexikon fur Theologie und Kirche, (Verlag Herder), New International Dictionary of Pentecostal/Charismatic Movements, (Zondervan), Religion in Geschichte und Gengenwart, 4th edition. (Mohr Siebeck) and Encyclopedia of Protestantism (Routledge).
