Scott J. Hafemann, Ph.D., serves on the Gordon-Conwell faculty as the Mary French Rockefeller Professor of New Testament.
Dr. Hafemann formerly served as Professor of New Testament at Gordon-Conwell from 1987 to 1995, and directed the Greek program for four years. From 1995 to 2004, he was the Gerald F. Hawthorne Professor of New Testament Greek and Exegesis at Wheaton College. He was also Assistant Professor of New Testament at Taylor University and Visiting Assistant Professor of New Testament at Saint Johns University.
He received an M.A. in Historical Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, pursued Latin Studies at the University of Minnesota, and was awarded a Dr. theol. degree in New Testament Studies at Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen in Germany. He was also a visiting research student at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Junior Scholar in Residence at the Ecumenical Institute for Advanced Theological Research in Tantur, Israel.
He has served in full or part-time pastoral positions in Evangelical Mennonite, Community Baptist and Congregational (Baptistic) churches.
Dr. Hafemann has written numerous articles and authored or edited nine books. Among his most recent are Biblical Theology: Retrospect and Prospect (InterVarsity Press, 2002), which he edited; The God of Promise and the Life of Faith. Understanding the Heart of the Bible (Crossway Books, 2001); and 2 Corinthians, NIV Application Commentary (Zondervan Publishing House, 2000).
